CodeX Diaries - Nakul Kamath
July 13, 2023
It takes effort and good men to make your product/service/company known. And at CodeX, that’s exactly what I do.
About me
Hey, I’m Nakul Kamath, and currently, as I’m writing this blog, I’m about to start my 3rd semester at MITB doing my bachelors in Computer Science and Engineering.
What I do at CodeX
I sell the idea of CodeX, make sure that the new batch of freshers knows about it before they even arrive, and that the seniors know what fun event one of our departments has planned next. I’m lucky to have amazing talent as my co-head Jhanavi, and the impressive minds in the media and graphic design teams who enable me to do what I do without handling the logistics of it. I HATE LOGISTICS(or rather, I’m too lazy). Planning how to market an event and thinking about what makes it special is what I do best. When a new app is about to launch, I, too, feel the excitement that the developers who put countless hours behind it feel. And as my department does, we make sure their efforts bear fruit.
What else do I do?
I play the guitar and love trying out the latest high-fidelity games(although I always end up finding myself going back to the competitive potato-looking games like Valorant). I’m a regular gym goer, or as some might say - a gym rat. After all, college is the period of your life where you work on yourself, get your life together, and set your path going forward. I’m not perfect, but I try my best, indulging in things I love, things that are good for me, and things that are good for my career, without sabotaging each other.
Why marketing
I’ve always had a fascination with telling people about new cool stuff. I’d watch LTT and tell my friends about the new overpriced GPU Nvidia launched or how AMD has the coolest CPUs with Ryzen. Building and engaging communities has been another niche I find myself interested in. I’ve hosted Discord servers, Minecraft networks, and many more communities before. Both of these interests culminate into the beautiful term - Marketing (well, not exactly, but it’s pretty darn close). So why not get into something I love doing that is also a viable career choice?
My takeaway
Do what you enjoy doing, but try to find a balance. Find something that compromises what is viable and what is enjoyable. Hope you had a great read, and seriously kudos for making it this far through my weird blog. Hope you have a great day or night.. ahead of you, and maybe I’ll catch you next time if I write another one of these.
